What we keep, and why

When you subscribe

We store your email address, the stage you picked, the site you told us about if you did, the time, the IP address the request came from, and the exact words that were above the button. That record is how we can show you consented, and it is why the first email you get is a confirmation rather than a letter.

While you are subscribed

We keep a record of every letter sent to you and whether it was delivered, bounced or marked as spam by your provider. We count opens and clicks on our own domain, per section and per topic, to learn which parts of the letter are worth keeping and to rank what we write about next. You can turn measurement off in your preferences; the letter then arrives with plain links and no pixel.

When you leave

Every letter has a one-click unsubscribe that works for as long as the letter exists. Unsubscribing is final on our side: nothing we import, sync or click can put you back on the list. Only you can, by subscribing again. We keep the fact that you unsubscribed so that we never email you by mistake.

Who else sees it

Resend delivers the email and reports bounces back to us. Railway hosts the database. Neither uses your address for anything else. We do not sell or share the list.
